Three classical music giants, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Yo-Yo Ma and Daniel Barenboim celebrate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth by recording the Triple Concerto. Pairing the Concerto with the Seventh Symphony, the album also marks the 20th birthday of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra.
The Triple Concerto has a special place in Beethoven’s oeuvre, revealing his revolutionary spirit and ingrained humour both in its sophisticated architecture and in its musical idiom. Ever inventive, creative and original, here Beethoven stages a lavish musical feast over-flowing with melody, a feast. Yo-Yo Ma puts it in these words: “For me, in the Triple Concerto, it’s the constant invention that always takes me by surprise. You know what I love about the piece? It’s so celebratory, so positive.” Performed by three of today’s most renowned classical artists and Beethoven interpreters – Anne-Sophie Mutter, Yo-Yo Ma and Daniel Barenboim and accompanied by the acclaimed West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. On 9 October 1989, 70,000 people staged a non-violent demonstration calling for more freedom and democracy in the GDR. Thanks to the claim “Peaceful Revolution”, initiated by Kurt Masur as one of six prominent citizens of Leipzig, everything proceeded peacefully. That evening, the Gewandhausorchester played under his baton Brahms’ Second Symphony at the St. Nicolas Church. The following regular "Monday Demonstrations", which came to be described as the “Peaceful Revolution”, became a major milestone on the way to open the Berlin Wall one month later on November the 9th in 1989 and paving the foundations for the reunification of the two German states.
Exactly 20 years later, the Gewandhausorchester and Kurt Masur commemorate the beginning of the German reunification by presenting the same symphony at the same location.

Full casting has been announced today for The company is led by Filipino-Australians Abigail Adriano and Seann Miley Moore lead the cast of the upcoming the international tour of Cameron Mackintosh's new production of Boublil and Schönberg's "Miss Saigon," which will begin in Manila before traveling to other Asian territories.
Adriano plays Kim while Miley Moore as the Engineer. The 19-year-old Adriano made waves during the Australian run of the production and now joins the ranks of talented Filipinas like Lea Salonga, Monique Wilson, Joanna Ampil, Carla Guevara-Laforteza, and Eva Noblezada who have played the iconic role of Kim on Broadway and West End.
Leading the cast alongside Adriano and Miley Moore is Nigel Huckle as Chris, Sarah Morrison as Ellen, Lewis Francis as John, and Laurence Mossman as Thuy.
Local Filipina performer Kiara Dario also joins the company as Gigi. Dario was recently the lead in Repertory Philippines' "Snow White and the Prince," wherein she was nominated as Best Performer in a Musical for the BroadwayWorld Philippines Awards. Miss Saigon marks her first international tour.
Sharing his excitement for this cast, Cameron Mackintosh said, "This is a cast with incredible energy and heart who totally get the true story of Miss Saigon and its contemporary resonance. I have no doubt it'll be one of the most unforgettable productions of Miss Saigon we have ever seen."

The new production is directed by Laurence Connor with musical staging by Bob Avian and additional choreography by Geoffrey Garratt.

Johann Strauss II - Rosen aus dem Süden, Op. 388 (Walzer)
Rosen aus dem Süden (Roses From the South), Op. 388, is a waltz medley composed by Johann Strauss II in 1880 with its themes drawn from the operetta Das Spitzentuch der Königin (The Queen's Lace Handkerchief). Strauss dedicated the waltz to King Umberto I of Italy.
The waltz ranks among the "Waltz King's" magnificent works and is still regularly performed today at the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert. The general mood of the piece is rather pensive but the final moments of the piece are utter joy and sparkling with Strauss happier tunes. Waltz section 1 is in F major and is graceful but pensive in mood. Waltz 2A is also in a more reflective mood but waltz 2B is more uplifting. The entire waltz 3 section is in G major while waltz section 4 is in E-flat major and has the climax with cymbals. A restless-sounding coda in E flat is soon replaced with a reprise of the waltz 3A. Waltz 1A has a brief show at the end before the waltz 4B is introduced, this time in the home key of F major. A series of descending chords marks the end of the waltz, underlined with a drum roll and final flourish.
