Sergei Rachmaninoff

 Russian composer, virtuoso pianist, and conductor Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff was born on this day in 1873.

Famous for possessing a clean and virtuosic technique, he is widely considered as one of the finest pianists of his day. As a composer, he is regarded as one of the last great representatives of Romanticism in Russian classical music.
